Our bodies are very smart and will adjust quickly when we start cutting our calories, so instead of losing weight, or getting the flat belly that we want, we are actually storing fat to use later for energy.
The reason that ALL diet programs will tell you to combine exercise with the diet is to force the body to use the stored fat for the energy it needs to exercise and tone the muscle. Toned muscle burns more fat even when you are just sitting and reading a book.
Diet pills are suppose to speed the metabolism to give you the energy to exercise and burn the calories, unfortunately few use them this way and don't know the secrets of calorie shifting. By switching up calories, a dieter’s body can never figure out how many calories are going to be coming in to feed it (which is the opposite of low calorie and low carb eating plans), and therefore it can never plateau.
With the low calorie diet (which most of it isn't by the way) and low carb diets, the body figures out what you are doing and will only burn the amount of calories that it thinks you need for energy and that is all, not a pound more.
The truth about calorie shifting is that it MAKES people have cheat days or else the diet won't be effective.
This is because our bodies are made to eat this way. Back in caveman days our ancestors would starve for almost weeks at a time while out looking for food. When they had the chance to eat, they would eat as much as they could in preparation for the next bout of hunger. Your physical system still operates this way.
Cheat days are similar to the days that our ancestors fasted. Because the metabolism never expects these days, it can never adjust to a certain way of eating, and the body is literally forced to continue dropping unwanted pounds.

They love this type of diet because dieters don't need to feel deprived or malnourished. Don't Be Fooled By the AMA and Corporate Advertising
Big corporate advertising has everyone fooled on the low calorie, low fat diets so that they, the AMA (American Medical Association) and the FDA (Federal Drug Administration) can make tons of money off of you at the expense of your heath! They have been brain washing the American people for so many years that Americans need to learn how to eat all over again. President George W. Bush didn't help matters much while he was in office. Thanks to that idiot we no longer have the truth in advertising that some of us had fought so hard to get.
Advertisers and food processing companies are now allowed to say "all natural" when it isn't. They are allowed to say "0" calories when it is full of sugar and they fool you with "fat free" by adding tons of sugar, chemical additives and salt to make up for the loss of flavor. So no, they are not fat free and they are unhealthy on top of that.
Advertisers will print on the packaging "no sugar" and then load it up with sugar substitutes that are highly toxic. Then the products are labeled "all natural, no preservatives added". They are big fat liars so beware. Learn to read the labels before buying!
Exercise routines done the same way every day will not help you lose either. You must mix that up the same way you mix up your food. Your body again, is a highly intelligent machine that will adjust quickly to your routines.
